Thank you to all our parents who came out for our Thanksgiving Feast. It was wonderful to see everyone. Our next class event will be December 17, our class Christmas party. Please contact our room moms if you would like to help with preparations for this festive occasion.
The week before break the class learned about two of Georgia's regions: Piedmont and Mountain. A study guide went home and a Remind notice was given for them to study this. Under the "3rd Grade Resources" tab, there I a link to a Quizlet for them to study. If they do the flash cards they will need to click for the term to show. Each question is really designed for them to answer which region. Hopefully they will also learn the other facts while reading the terms/statements. When we return from Thanksgiving break we will begin formally subtracting with regrouping. We have started some of this as a class. Make sure they are practicing their next multiplication facts. Spelling sort #12 is next week. They can always use Spelling City to practice these words. We will continue to learn about the regions of Georgia for Science. In Social Studies we will begin learning/reading about Frederick Douglas. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Spelling Sort #10

Please help our Thanksgiving Feast flow smoothly by returning the RSVP on the bottom portion of this page by Wednesday, November 11th. Plan to arrive 10 minutes prior to your child’s scheduled Thanksgiving Feast to purchase your lunch tickets in the front lobby of the school. Lunches will cost $3.50 for all guests (adults and children that are not students). The lunch menu is turkey & stuffing, a roll, a choice of 3 sides, carton drink or cup of tea, and a dessert. Ms. Hargrove was out again today. Ms. Hess was in training today. Hopefully all went smoothly.
Below are the plans that were left for the subs. They had some liberty with the different activities, but the basic outline is below. REMINDER: Big Head contest ends this week. If they did not tear it out, they can look online in the online textbook. Their passwords should be in their password tracker. Spelling: Spelling stairs of their words. PARENT REMINDER: If your student has difficulty with doing all the words, ie; they take a VERY long time, then please sign off that you have decided they are done. We will accept that. Math: They are working on their 4's. They took another practice test today. Look at their results from Tuesday's test to see what they need to practice. Timed test is Friday. In class they did a worksheet on 4's. Social Studies/Reading: They continued learning about the 3 branches of Government. Different worksheets were left including flip books and organizers. Possible reading of the BoxCar children and/or grammar worksheets. Ms. Hess will return on Thursday. Ms. Hargrove was out sick on Monday, and will probably be out Tuesday as well. HW Monday: Make flash cards of their 4's HW Tuesday: Textbook page 387 Tuesday in class we learned that you can determine a multiple of 4 by finding 2 groups of the number. Example: 4x6 = 2 groups of 2x6 OR 2x6 + 2x6 = 4x6. Their homework will continue this concept. They can use their classwork to help with their homework. We will continue practicing with 4's. Social Studies/Reading: Center activities all week with reading and learning about the 3 branches of government: Executive, Legislative and Judicial. The vocabulary is very difficult for them so each station/center will continue to reinforce the main ideas and concepts. Tuesday we will take our test on homophones/Sort #8 spelling using Spellingcity in the computer lab. They will be able to practice their words first using Spellingcity. The Ford Foundation Annual Campaign is going on now through November 6. This benefits our entire school AND our classroom.
