We also reinforced that it is an inverse operation of multiplication and that their are "fact families." Example: 2,3,6 because 2x3 = 6 , 3x2 = 6, 6\3 = 2 and 6\2 = 3 (I don't have access to a division sign - students are not taught it with the "\" sign). On Tuesday we took an assessment on our division understanding. Wednesday we will work in class with partners to do mixed word problems (mult and division) with extra information. Students are learning to break apart a problem to determine a method of solving it. Students sometimes assume that when you are learning a skills, like division, they don't read the word problems but just take the numbers and divide without reading. We are teaching them critical thinking. Monday HW: page 275 & 276 Tuesday HW: page 281 & 282 Wednesday HW: Fact Family A Thursday HW: Fact Family B NOTES: - Box Top for Education contest has begun.
