Welcome Back! We hope you all had an enjoyable and restful break. We both want to thank you for all the wonderful gifts and wishes you sent to us for the holidays. We appreciate your love and support.

With the cold weather, please dress your child in layers. The school temperature sometimes fluctuates. We also take them out for recess in the winter so they need their heavy jackets.

Math: We are learning how to find the area of different shapes (not just rectangles) by counting the units that make up the shape. This will help in our full understanding of what "area" is.
Tuesday: worksheet on finding areas by counting
Wednesday: finding area by counting, multiplying and adding
Thursday: Word problems involving area in real world
Spelling: Spelling Sort #15 - suffix rules for adding the -ing ending. This concept will continue for the next couple of weeks with a few rules each week. This week is when to double the last consonant if it has a consonant, vowel, consonant and to just add -ing if there is a vowel, consonant, consonant.
Tuesday: Spelling Sort - 4 columns.
Wednesday: Spelling City - specific assignment when they log in.
Thursday: Spelling Sort - both sides of paper
We are studying Susan B Anthony. We began today by looking up the definitions of vocabulary words relating to her life story. We will be reading about her and answering questions for each chapter. The goal is to understand how she fought for other's rights and had determination.
We reviewed briefly about the Piedmont region by looking at the live feed of Berry College's eagle. A link is now available on the 3rd Grade Resources for this site.
This week we will continue other Georgia regions such as the Coastal Plains and Barrier Islands/Sea.
