Touchtone testing is on Monday and Tuesday morning for math and reading. These assess what students should have learned this last nine weeks.
We are getting back on routine.
Spelling: We reviewed the words for Spelling Sort #7. They have "aw" sounds. We will continue to practice these words in class and for homework.
Math: We began multiplication. They made flash cards for their 2's. They are to practice these and become fluent this week. They will have practice assessments each day with a graded mult test on Friday. When they show mastery, they will move onto the next set of facts. The green tab to the right marked "3rd Grade Resources" has several websites to help practice with multiplication. The standard for 3rd grade is to be fluent with their facts.
Social Studies: We continued our unit on Greece. We reviewed vocabulary words for this unit and discussed Greece's impact on the United States architecture and government. This week our guided reading centers will reinforce their impact.
Grammar: We continued learning about parts of speech. Nouns were previously reviewed with proper and improper. This week we are learning the difference between concrete (person, place or thing) and abstract nouns (idea, thought).
